OUR STORY

Since 2003, Island Music has been serving Florida's "Space Coast". Sales of Musical Instruments and Pro-Audio equipment are our primary income, while services are our return to the community. Since opening, we've sold over 1000 guitars, and repaired over 800! (plus all kinds of other instruments and gear) Our teachers have taught nearly 500 students to play music. Hundreds of local churches, organizations and businesses have tapped into our professional audio experience. We are small, but strive to maximize our potential.

Island Music is primarily a "Bricks & Mortar" retail operation, but our web business is growing. We plan to build our web clientele around our uniqueness, as there are already more than enough warehouse type sites. Like many stores, we often end up with items that are "off center" and may be more appreciated outside our local market. We've got a 100% positive rating on eBay, selling primarily higher priced vintage items under the moniker ProAxes. Our contacts in the vintage world are second to none, and can find virtually any guitar you seek.

Same with our new product; we have limited showroom space and inventory capital, but our connections ensure that you can get virtually anything musical from Island Music, except for the few brands that our local competitors carry. We recommend you support their efforts.

Keeping as much business as you can with your local store is very important. Sure you can order a hammered dulcimer online and UPS will bring it to your doorstep in less than a week. But you can also let us order it for you, at the same price, and it will likely show up in about the same amount of time, and if there's an issue, it's our problem not yours. Why would we do this? Two things: Profit & Service. We do make a profit when we order you something even if it's at Internet prices; nobody is selling that stuff at a loss. We use that profit to build our business and pay our staff. Plus, it helps us build customer relationships and show our ability to service you personally. Think of it this way: The $10 profit made on your next $50 purchase can either feed one of our employee’s families that night, or go into the coffers of a billion dollar California corporation. When you choose us, we are very grateful!

SAM TRITICO

Owner Sam Tritico moved to Merritt Island in early 2003 after 3 decades in Nashville's music business. Before owning Tennessee's largest music store chain (Sam's Music), Sam was a professional musician on the road and in the studios, starting in 1971 at age 16. He has performed in all 50 states and nearly 30 countries, as a guitarist, bassist, and now more recently worship leader for missions trips with “Win Our Nations”. Over 1000 recordings have Sam on guitar, bass, pedal steel, synthesizer programming, engineer, producer or songwriter. Notable highlights in his musical career include recordings with Roy Orbison & performing on the Grand Ole Opry.

Along the way, the industry noticed Sam's unusual combination of musical talent, technical expertise, and business savvy. Manufacturers like Yamaha, Ibanez, Alesis, Fostex, Korg, Takamine and more, have used him in various capacities ranging from product design, manual writing, clinician and consultant. Niche fame came in 1985 when Keyboard Magazine acknowledged Sam as one of the top FM Synth programmers in the world; if you’ve ever played a Yamaha DX7, you’ve probably seen programs like “Sams Grand, SamStrings & Grinder B3””. These and other aftermarket programs by L.A. studio players helped make the DX7 the #1 keyboard in history. Guitar Player magazine put Sam on it’s advisory board in the late 70’s, and numerous industry magazines, including Music Trades, have done stories or interviews on Sam, his stores, and his staffs. Dozens of his previous employees have gone on to high level positions in the industry.

Now semi-retired from all that, the new Sam intends to spend more time playing music he enjoys, working with the ministries of East Coast Christian Center. And of course continue to build an efficient retail operation that can remain small and personal, but earn enough to keep enjoying the Florida sunshine.
